WHAT ARE THE FOODS THAT CHANGE THE EFFECT OF WARFARIN (COUMADIN)?

Since warfarin ( coumadin ) interacts with many foods, most people go to some prohibitions and serious restrictions on nutrition while using warfarin.

However, nutrients such as vitamins and minerals that we get from foods are very important for our body. For this reason, you can consume foods other than herbal teas and herbal medicines obtained from a mixture of many plants in normal portions. Your warfarin dose should be adjusted according to your diet.

The point you should pay attention to in your eating habits is that you do not consume foods that contain vitamin K or that interact with warfarin excessively. As long as you continue your daily adequate and balanced diet, you can prevent the foods you consume from affecting your warfarin dose. While some foods increase the effect of warfarin (coumadin), some foods decrease it.

Foods that increase the effect of warfarin:

-Some drinks and foods with high salicylic acid levels can increase the effect of warfarin and cause bleeding problems. It is recommended not to consume excessive amounts of these foods and beverages while using warfarin. Salicylic acid has a blood-thinning effect. Plants rich in salicylic acid include mint, ginger, red pepper, curry leaves and curry powder, thyme, cinnamon, dill, turmeric, and licorice. Excessive consumption of these spices should be avoided. Other foods and beverages are: Cherry, Cranberry, Blueberry, Cherry, Orange, Mandarin, Pineapple, Grapefruit juice, Cranberry juice.

-Ginger can increase the effect of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin and cause bleeding. Avoid excessive use.

- Red pepper, chamomile, angelica, tansy, garlic (has bleeding-increasing properties), flaxseed, poplar bud, etc. Herbs can increase the effect of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin and cause bleeding. Avoid overconsumption.

-Turmeric should not be consumed excessively due to its blood thinning effect. Excessive consumption can cause bruising and bleeding.

  • In some studies, it has been observed that mushroom consumption increases the effect of warfarin. It should not be consumed excessively.

-Some fruits have effects on warfarin due to their blood-thinning properties: Warfarin users are advised not to consume grapefruit, grapefruit juice or cranberry. Pomegranate may increase bleeding by interacting with warfarin. All fruits in the mulberry family, including cranberries and blueberries, are important blood thinners. Oranges, tangerines, cherries, raisins, prunes, pineapple, and tomatoes also have blood-thinning properties.

Foods that reduce the effect of warfarin:

These foods are generally foods that contain more vitamin K. These are; Cabbage, Spinach, Brussels sprouts, Black cabbage, Green mustard, Chicory, Red cabbage, Curly, Lettuce, Parsley, Chard, Mint, Purslane, Broccoli, Green tea, Liver…. detected.

      The example about the mattress sizing page you mentioned in the last WBF can be a perfect example of new keywords and content, and broadening the funnel as well. I can only imagine the sale numbers if that was the site of a mattress selling company.
